Discover how Federico Schenone prepares and photographs the quietest, most authentic moments of a wedding day.
You don’t have to follow me.
There is nothing to arrange, and you do not have to follow me. Walk, talk, go wherever you feel like going: I will stay behind you and, every now and then, I will suggest something.
I understand how much direction to give in the moment. Some couples are at their best when I simply let them be; others prefer to be told where to stand. I see it by watching you, and I adapt.
What matters is that you enjoy that moment. The best photographs come from the way you are together, not from a pose done well.
The quietest moment.
It is not a photoshoot. It is the quietest moment of the entire day. At a wedding, you are never alone. There is always someone embracing you, calling you, or asking for a photograph. Those minutes are the only part of the day when it is just the two of you: no one around, and the sound of the sea in place of the music.
The schedule is only for me.
For it to feel that way, we decide a great deal much earlier. We meet months in advance and look at your day hour by hour: when you get ready, when the best light arrives, how long it really takes to travel from the church to the villa. From there comes a schedule shared by you and me, and no one else.
Then the day arrives, and the schedule is only for me. You do not have to remember anything.
When the moment comes, we step away. We walk slowly, stop where the light is right, and I let you talk to each other. If needed, I tell you where to stand or which way to look. I guide you.
Below us is the sea, and the celebration can still be heard in the distance. These are two or three brief moments, already decided together, and then you return.
During the other hours I am there, but you do not see me.
Many couples tell me this is the part they remember best. Not because of the photographs, but because it was the only silence.
