Behind the lens
Meet Federico Schenone, a wedding photographer raised on the Ligurian Riviera, and discover his perspective and approach to storytelling.
The landscape that taught me to see.
I was born and raised on the Ligurian Riviera, and I know its every secret. The sea, the churches on the headlands, and the six o’clock light cutting through the cloisters are the landscape where I learned to look—before I ever learned to photograph.
Present when it matters. Invisible when it doesn’t.
Reportage, yes—but I am not an invisible photographer, and I do not pretend to be. When the light, the setting, or the moment deserves it, I step in: I will tell you where to stand and which way to look. What I will never tell you is what to feel.
It is not a photoshoot inserted into your wedding. It is a few minutes at a time, in the parts of the day where they mean something. For the rest, the craft is the opposite: stepping aside and photographing, because the best images are almost always the ones made after you had forgotten I was there.
A story, not a gallery.
I deliver photographs that make sense beside one another: your day in order, with a beginning and an end.
I do not treat them according to the fashion of the moment. Ten years from now, what should stand out is not the year they were made, but the day itself.
